Well its been a long time since i have written and shared any new tips and tricks with my fellow geeks.
But here I am with the basic really easy post on Windows 7. Well this new version of windows has really inspired me and I would like to keep writing on the new features available as I go on exploring them.
The easiest way is to right click on your desktop-> Personalize -> Change Desktop Icons and here you land on the following screen.
Walla! You have your My Computer on the desktop.

HI,
How to do the above step automaticlly, like can we set some registry
thank you, this was useful.
This was a helpful tip but Is there any way to have “my computer” as a dop down bar at the top of the screen like in XP??
Hidden away. Thanks
Personalize option is not coming
i am using a windows 7 home edition it is not showing my computer as shortkut how can i bring it to shortkut i have also checked no personised opition is not cumming
As you have mentioned that you’re using windows 7 home edition and it’s not showing the personalize option when you right click on the desktop.
I want to tell you that this behaviour is by-design, as Home Basic or home edition does not have themes support. Since this behavior is “by design”, there is no resolution. However, if the user’s intent is to change the desktop background, this can still be accomplished by clicking the Windows start icon in the bottom left of the screen, and then typing “Change desktop background” in the search box.
“Walla” is not a word. Voila is a word.
